"URL Replace" is an addon that moves Nitter, Invidious to alternavie frontends. In addition, selected URLs can be redirected to 12ft.io.

Invidious has an existing addon for Friendica that allows customised settings. If both addons are activated in parallel, this leads to multiple link references, which do not look nice and are a hindrance.

This addon removes the Invidious link and replaces it with a link for Instagram links to proxigram. Nitter and 12ft.io are still part of the addon.

It is a new addon based on URL Replace. URL Replace is not affected by the changes. It allows the admin of a node to continue using the "invidious" addon without displaying duplicate links under a post.

In addition, I wrote to Tobi in advance via his Mastodon account and informed him about the adaptation of his addon.

I’m against the creation of a 3rd URL-replacing addon.

I’d prefer if we included the Invidious addon feature to the URL replace addon if it’s more developed than what there is already. Then the Invidious addon can be deprecated.

Then you can add the Proxigram feature to the URL Replace addon as well.

None of these two changes warrant the creation of a separate addon.

So the URL Replace is not usable for me. It provides redundant functions that are not compatible with the existing add-on. Hence my offer to remove this redundancy.

From my point of view, the various functions should continue to be available in separate add-ons. One for 12ft, one for Invidious and one for Proxigram. The admin must be able to decide which of the functions is right for him. It's like an on/off switch.

When you want the admin to control, which replacement their users can use, you could possibly add some admin settings? I'm not very much into our url replacement addons. Possibly we can move all the functionality into a single one and could have a look at all their advantages and disadvantages and could use the best from them all?

Since I don't want to start a negative controversy here, I'm withdrawing the addon.

In my opinion, the URL Replace addon should have been corrected as soon as it became clear that a redundant function had been integrated here. I just wanted to correct this omission and thus offer the admins (like me) a manageable solution.

For those interested: I have the addon at: https://github.com/loma-one/private_Friendica_Addon/tree/main/rt_replace.
