Currently

A https button indicates an instance has secure connectivity.

Expected

In 2023 that clearly should be the default and directory should only list instances with the https checkbox ticked. Making that a requirement will allow to remove that button.

Request is to only ever show instances that support https and remove the button to declutter the UI.

I'm not sure how to display that requirement if we start enforcing it, though. We don't have an "About" page at the moment.

Is that communication of the requirement really needed? https should be default for any service including social networks. Also admins can always ask on the various friendica support channels as they already do, when something is unclear irt the directory.

It should, but there's no guarantee it will. I could add a disclaimer in the Admin -> Site -> Policies settings where the global directory URL is set.

That sounds like the correct location for such a disclaimer. And it allows to move this UI request forward.
